SQRL and Next Gen Authentication at Fox Valley Computing Professionals

I’ve noticed some trends between a particular authentication system I’ve been following, SQRL (pronounced “squirrel”) and other authentication and crypto-currency systems. We’ll look these ideas in light of several threats to application authentication:

  • Theft of the Server Database – answered with public/private key cryptograph
  • Weak Passwords – answered with agents, especially managing public keys
  • Loss of User Information – answered with levels of storage and accessibility
  • Theft of User Information – answered with levels of encryption and rights

Note that we will be addressing these threats only in relation to authentication information, other steps will be required to protect personal information and other data.
